At the University of Minnesota Child Advocacy & Juvenile Justice Clinic, Cresston was a devoted and rigorous advocate for clients in need of legal help.
- Grandparents. Cresston represented grandparents seeking custody of their grandchildren, with and without the agreement of the parents. He guided his clients through the family court process in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties, drafting their documents and preparing them for court. He reassured them each step of the way and maintained regular communication so that their questions were answered quickly. These clients were successful in obtaining third-party custody of their grandchildren.
- Relatives. Cresston helped relatives obtain custody of their niece due to the unavailability of the child's parents. Despite some complicated issues, Cresston explained and advocated for these relatives in court and they were ultimately successful in being granted custody of the child by the court.
- Youth. Cresston assisted in the representation of a youth facing felony charges in Juvenile Court. Through negotiations and challenging the State's evidence, these charges were lowered to misdemeanors.
